Light. Images. Light/images. Moving lights. Moving images. Moving/light/images. Framed and free flowing light waves, sculptural light objects.

The ON sight specific group exhibition presents works by artists of Lighthouse light art society at an unusual location by utilizing the special atmosphere of Csokonai Theatre in Debrecen and turning it into an impromptu art gallery.

Csongor G SZIGETI:
SunPin [2006/2020]

SunPin is a hybrid, low- and high-tech – aluminum spare parts, modified astronomical electronics and mechanics – structure, which follows the “movement” of the Sun around the clock. The cyclically repetitive position of Earth and Sun, relative to each other, is an essential condition for life on Earth. The kinetic sculpture raises a mobile monument to this phenomenon.

SunPin directs our attention to one of the main objective realities perceived in every second, but in practice it can function as a measuring device as well. It marks a particular position in relation to cosmic contexts, so that we are no longer standing at an undefined point of the universe. In a post-apocalyptic, dystopian future, it can help us to survive, even if our main energy source, the Sun is no longer visible.
